During one of our group therapy sessions about Bipolar, we were taught the importance of keeping a Mood Diary. We were given a template to use as a guideline, however I found the template to be tedious as you always need to make sure you have the template with you; at work or at home, you’ll need to keep the sheet with you.
After doing some research I found that there are a variety of Mood Diary Apps on line. I personally took a very easy one called Moodtrack. It reminds me daily to enter my mood, and it’s as simple as typing in your mood with a few comments as to why you may be feeling that way. You then are required to select a rating from 1 to 5 as to your mood for the day. 1 meaning you feel really low and depressed, and a 5 meaning you are feeling like Superman, unstoppable and on top of the world. This information is then thrown onto a graph, which allows you to keep track of your moods.
By completing this daily, I am able to keep track of my mood cycle and under comments, I could possible have listed triggers that may have influenced my mood.
However I recommend that this type of app should be used by all, and not just those suffering with a mental illness. It’s a great way to keep track of your moods and find your own triggers.
So go onto your Play Store or App Store, and go search Mood Diary and start your tracking your own moods.
Have a great Saturday all.
