Sometimes one just needs to make a change to make them feel good and forget their worries behind. I decided to die my hair platinum silver, and guess what it made me feel good.
So is the saying true? Well here’s the thing, let’s be honest, a change is never going to be as brilliant as a holiday, but it sure is a cheaper option for a quick fix.
When a person makes any changes in their life, like a new look, a new hairstyle, a new job, a new car, a new home – I believe a person regains interest in their life. In my opinion it’s similar to a snake shedding it’s skin, getting rid of the old and embracing the new. Similarly if we make subtle changes in our lives, we may be shedding the old and embracing the new you.
Now I know some of you may say, yeah but isn’t change also stressful. Yeah change can be stressful but I also think it depends on the persons current situation and their mindset. If an individual is not ready to embrace the new change because the new change has been forced upon them, then yes the change maybe extremely stressful and worrying.
We need to remember that life is a journey, and sometimes we get to make the changes ourselves and other times the changes are made for us. The only thing we can do is embrace the change and settle in and enjoy the ride.
One thing has become inevitable to me in this past year and that is life is short. In a blink of an eye, it can all be taken away from you.
Today’s lives are for more stressful than back in the 80’s, mobile phones and technological advances stop us from actually resting when we get home. Cancer is rife and not one person today, doesn’t know of a friend or family member fighting cancer. Economies are battling, politicians are fighting non stop and people are losing hope.
I remember a study was done a while ago, I can’t remember exactly when or who did it but, I remember reading that through struggling economies, one industry always remained strong through them all and that was the fashion and beauty industry; and do you want to know why, because no matter what, we as humans will do something to make ourselves feel better in tough times – be it buying a new outfit, makeup or hairstyle – we are conditioned to do something to ourselves to make us feel better about ourselves.
So in my opinion yes, a change can be as good as a holiday, if (and here’s the big IF) you are the one that made the change in your life.
So here’s to my new silver hair and me embracing my new change.
